Intellectual Property Attorney

REVOLUTION Medicines discovers and develops new drugs that translate frontier cancer targets through exceptional drug discovery delivering revolutionary medicines on behalf of cancer patients. Our innovative science draws inspiration from nature and evolution, which offer insights into cancer targets, disease mechanisms and therapeutic approaches. As a new member of the RevMed team, you will join other outstanding scientists who are helping lead our efforts in the discovery and development of new medicines for unmet needs in cancer.

  • Manage the Company’s IP portfolio, including patent and trademark preparation and prosecution, trade secrets, copyrights, licensing and research agreements, publications and intellectual property aspects of contracts and agreements.

  • Review, draft and coordinate intellectual property documentation and related agreements.

  • Prepare legal opinions and analyses of patents for freedom to operate.

  • Conduct preliminary searches for competitive IP and together with project teams monitor the competitive IP landscape.

  • Provide legal advice to the Company concerning the patentability of its inventions and the advisability of filing patent applications covering the company's inventions.

  • Provide strategic counsel to the business regarding the Company’s current portfolio and future product candidates.

  • Identify patentable inventions through frequent interactions with project teams.

  • Manage outside counsel in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications before the USPTO and abroad through foreign counsel.

  • Manage and coordinate patent filings with licensors and collaborators.

  • Draft, negotiate, interpret and advise on IP related agreements including Material Transfer, Confidential Disclosure, Sponsored Research, and standard license agreements.

  • Educate and advise the Company on intellectual property issues and best practices.

  • Prepare or advise on other agreements and/or contracts (e.g., consulting agreements, master service agreements, etc.).

Required Skills
  • JD and Ph.D. degree preferably in Chemistry or a related discipline.

  • Admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and an active member of the CA state bar.

  • 3 to 5+ years’ experience, preferably at a law firm.

  • Working knowledge of transactional and intellectual property law.

  • Experience negotiating and drafting agreements including MTAs, CDAs, MSAs, Sponsored Research Agreements and standard license agreements.  

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize options, anticipate challenges, and execute on goals as a member of an interdisciplinary team is extremely important.
